ABSTRACT
Nowadays forest fire is the most damaging factor that affect to sustainable forest
management, because the quality and the quantity of residual stand decrease significantly.
Forest health condition, nowadays, has become important criteria for sustainable forest
management. Forest Health Monitoring (FHM) is a method for monitoring, assessing and
reporting forest status of the present, changes and long term trends in forest ecosystem health
by using measurable ecological indicators for management decision making. Even so, this
method has not commonly implemented yet in the field especially on burned-forest. The
objective of this research was to study the impact of forest fire to vegetation (tree damage
condition) in Mahagoni plantation using FHM method. The assessment of burned-forest was
conducted on FHM cluster-plots in the area of BKPH Cibenda KPH Majalengka dominated
by Mahagoni (Swietenia macrophylla). The number of plots in burned-forest was 12 plots (3
cluster-plots), and 4 plots (1 cluster-plots) unburned-forest. The results showed that the forest
health status on impact of forest fire to vegetation on the value of forest health condition
based on FHM method on burned-forest was classified into very bad (0), bad (4) and
moderate (5).
